Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Thursday on a positive trend after the March CPI data came in below expectations. The Benchmark Index then followed a volatile and weak course in the afternoon to close the day at 9,484.26, down 0.41%. The Industrial Index decreased by 0.13% and the Banking Index lost 1.10%. Local CPI rose 2.46% monthly and 38.1% annually in March. While the market expectation was for a 2.9% monthly and 38.7% annual increase, our expectation was 2.78% monthly and 38.5% annually. On the global front, a sharp sell-off was seen in stock markets following Trump's tariff statements. Yesterday, the U.S. stock markets fell by up to 6%, European stock markets lost up to 3%, and Asian stock markets fell by up to 2.8%. Finally, the President said that he could open tariff negotiations and that he was open to reducing customs duties if other countries offered something "extraordinary." Despite the statement, risk appetite remains weak this morning; U.S. futures and Asian stocks are trading negatively, while German DAX futures are trading somewhat positively. Markets await U.S. nonfarm payrolls and unemployment figures today. The Chinese and Hong Kong stock markets are closed for a holiday. The VIOP30 Index ended the evening session up 0.21%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Friday flat and then continue its fluctuating course. SUPPORT: 9,400 - 9,300 RESISTANCE: 9,650 - 9,750.
