Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Friday on a positive trend, but encountered sales from the opening, closing the day at 9,877.59, down 0.37%. While the Industrial Index completed the day flat, up 0.01%, the Banking Index diverged positively, up 0.75%. The BIST100 and the Industrial Index decreased by 0.74% and 1.51% on a weekly basis, and the Banking Index diverged positively, up 1.24%. The BIST follows a volatile and weak course due to the lack of short-term stories. In addition, global developments mean that risk appetite is affected by Trump’s policies, in turn impacting on the general course of the BIST. Meanwhile, as 4Q24 financials continue to be announced, share-based divergences are also evident. We think that the fluctuating weak course may continue in the short term due to the lack of an upward impulse for the BIST and the heating up political agenda. In global markets, despite U.S. inflation data coming in higher than expected last week, the PPI data giving moderate signals for the core PCE in its details and the expectations of a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war have supported risk appetite. Last week, major stock markets closed with increases. This morning, German DAX futures and U.S. futures are positive, while Asian stock markets are mixed. The U.S. stock markets are closed today. We expect the markets to follow developments on the Trump front, as the macroeconomic data agenda is calm. The VIOP30 Index completed the Friday evening session up 0.04%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Monday flat, but to follow a fluctuating course thereafter. SUPPORT: 9,750 - 9,650 RESISTANCE: 9,900 - 10,000
