Outlook:
The BIST100 Index started Monday on a negative trend leaving a price gap, remaining weak throughout trading and closing at 9,774.40, down 2.30%. The industrial Index lost 1.88% and the Banking Index fell 2.94%. The Benchmark Index had started the day with sales after the tariff decreases in global markets and Moody's and Fitch Ratings Turkiye rating and outlook remaining unchanged. January CPI data printing above expectations also caused sales to accelerate. January CPI, out on Monday, exceeded expectations, rising 5.03% monthly and 42.12% annually. The market expectation had been at 4.33% monthly and 41.16% annually. In global markets, President Trump's decision to impose new tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China as of Tuesday, and his statements that these countries would respond, has weakened risk appetite. Trump's postponement of tariff increases on Canada and Mexico for a month after meetings with his counterparts gave limited support to risk appetite. Yesterday, the U.S. and European stock markets closed the day with declines. This morning, the U.S. futures and German DAX futures maintain their bearish trend. Asian stock markets are priced positively. The data agenda is calm today, we expect the markets to continue following tariff developments closely. The VIOP30 Index completed the evening session up 0.71%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Tuesday with reaction purchases, and continue its rise despite any intraday profit-taking. SUPPORT: 9,650 - 9,550 RESISTANCE: 9,850 - 9,950.
